On Friday, November 11, there was a dreadful tractor trailer crash which led to the deaths of an adult and three young children.
According the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 4 a.m. on Interstate 95 in Yemassee, South Carolina. A tractor trailer hit the back of a 2001 Ford Taurus which had a driver and five passengers all from Maryland. The two vehicles then left the road and the tractor trailer crushed the car and then drove on top of it.
The female driver had to be cut out of the car and she was airlifted to Trident Medical Center with critical injuries. Her husband was in the front passenger seat and he was taken to Colleton Medical and then transferred to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical with unknown injuries.
All of those in the rear seat, three children under the age of 10 and 27 year old Lani Tran of Maryland were killed.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to Colleton County Medical Center in Walterboro with non-life-threatening injuries.
South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash which is suspected will take some time.
