On Tuesday night, October 11, a young woman was killed when she crashed her car into the rear of a tractor-trailer.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident happened just before 11 p.m. on Highway 123 in Easley, near Old Easley Highway and the Greenville Pickens Speedway.
A 2003 Kenworth tractor-trailer, being driven by 37 year old Manuel Casarez from Tennessee, made a right turn on Highway 124 from Highway 123 and a 2009 Chevrolet, being driven by 21 year old Mary Gorman of Sunningdale Court in Easley which was traveling south on U.S. 123 ran into the back of it. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was trapped in the vehicle, but having been extricated as as she was being transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital she died from blunt force trauma.
The tractor- trailer driver, who was also wearing a seat belt was uninjured.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
