A Greenville man has been seriously injured on State Highway 24 near Campbell.
According to a Department of Public Safety official, the accident happened just after 7.30 a.m. on December 2, when a Ford F-150 pickup truck being driven by 29 year old Juan Lara, 29, of Greenville, crashed into a large tractor-trailer on State Highway 24.
According to police, Lara was traveling north in his pick up when it struck the 18 wheeler, which was blocking the northbound lanes as it was trying to turn south onto SH 24 as it was leaving the parking lot of the Valero Campbell Store and Café. The tractor-trailer was being driven by 47 year old James Wallace, of Lindsay, Oklahoma.
Lara had to be extracted from his vehicle and received serious injuries including two broken legs and a broken arm. H was airlifted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
Wallace, who was employed by J. B. Hunt Transportation Services, Inc., of Lowell, Ark., was uninjured.
