On Tuesday afternoon, April 26, a truck driver was killed in a single vehicle crash in Craven County.
According to the Highway Patrol, the accident happened at around 1.30 p.m. on U.S. 17 south of Vanceboro near the Little Swift Creek bridge. It appears that 23 year old Jason Price of Wilson was driving his box truck southbound when for reasons as yet unknown he ran off the right side of the highway, then he over-corrected, drove back onto the road and struck a tree on the other side. There were no witnesses to actually what happened and a trooper came across the accident, and discovered Price dead at the scene.
The truck is owned by Ihrie Supply Company in Greenville.
The highway was shut down for about three hours because of the crash which is still under investigation.
