On Wednesday morning three firefighters were taken to the hospital after their fire truck crashed when it rolled off an icy mountain road when responding to a crash Wednesday morning in Henderson County.
According to officials, the accident happened around 8 a.m. at Carriage Park which is a private community off of Carriage Park Way. The weather conditions were both icy and foggy and the fire engine was responding to a vehicle accident and was on a very steep road which was also icy. It slid off the road and rolled down an embankment. Witnesses said that the fog was so bad visibility was extremely limited at the time.
The truck was a 2004 American LaFrance Metropolitan Pumper/Tanker with a 1500 gallons per minute pump and 1000 gallon tank.
Three of the firefighters were taken to the hospital and at this time there is no news on the extent of their injuries.
